Loki's Castle is the nineteenth episode of Season 1, and the nineteenth episode overall.
Synopsis[]
"While fighting over Viking treasure, the Nektons take over the Dark Orca. But the pirates in turn take over the Aronnax. Neither side is happy about strangers in their homes! But neither side is willing to back down."
Plot[]
On the Aronnax, Ant shows Fontaine the latest broadcast from Devil Daniels who claims that he's discovered and ancient Viking shipwreck laden with treasure, located in a field of hydrothermal vents in the North Atlantic know as "Loki's Castle". Daniels also says that local governments have "entrusted" him to recover. The Nektons obviously see through his lies and contact him from the bridge. As the Nektons talk to Daniels about letting them help, (fearing he'll damage the treasure on his own) the Dark Orca emerges behind him and despite Fontaine's attempt to warn him, Daniels is kidnapped by Hammerhead and his pirates!
Despite the Nekton's claim that "people are more important than treasure", Hammerhead brings Daniels aboard and heads straight for Loki's Castle. The Nektons are able to locate the Orca by following the trail of diesel fuel from its leaky engines. By the time the Aronnax arrives, the Orca pirates have taken most of the treasure. Will, Kaiko, and Fontaine take two of the Knights and the Rover out to try and retrieve it. Kaiko enters the Orca but gets trapped when the moon pool door closes on her. Ant takes the Mag Knight out to help but as he leaves Madeline sneaks onto the Aronnax through the moon pool. Once onboard, Madeline lets Hammerhead, Danny Boy, and several other pirates onboard. As Ant helps the others free Kaiko, Kaiko sees a message from Hammerhead on the Aronnax bridge claiming it as his own!
Spurred on by this deception, the Nektons board the Orca to take control of it. After overpowering the remaining pirates with the Swamp Knight, the Nektons reach the bridge where Finn immediately surrenders. Fontaine finds and frees Daniels. Hammerhead plans on stealing the whatever treasure is locked up in the safe in Will's study (which contains the Chronicle of the deep), but Will as upgraded the security system since the last time. Unable to crack the code, Madeline then decides to capture Jeffrey and use him as a means to force the Nektons to open the safe. Upon going through Orca's the manuals hoping to gain an advantage, Ant finds a list of every kind of torpedo on the Orca and fires one called the "Gooper" which covers the Aronnax's bridge windows in green slime. Hammerhead orders return fire only to realize the Aronnax has no weapons and orders a retreat. Daniels (who has been trying to make the situation look like part of his show since coming onboard) arrives on the bridge. Wanting to add more "excitement" Daniels fires a different torpedo at Aronnax, the "Squid Inker" which creates a massive cloud of ink around the Aronnax, blinding the pirates. When the Aronnax emerges it nearly collides with a rock formation but stops in time, however when the Orca emerges from the cloud it is unable to stop in time and hits the Aronnax which in turn hits the rock formation.
Daniels then fires grappling guns which hitch onto the Aronnax and pull the two ships towards each other and they collide. After this Daniels is handcuffed and taken off the bridge to prevent further trouble. With the two ships now locked side by side, Hammerhead orders Danny Boy to maneuver Aronnax so it positions the Orca dangerously over a lava pool in hopes that will convince the Nektons to surrender. Will takes the Mag Knight out to cut the cables. Hammerheads crew attempt to stop him but retreat after realizing how hot the water is so close to the volcano. After the two ships are freed, Madeline shows up and appears to have captured Jeffery in plastic bag and tries to force the Nektons to surrender over his safety, only for Jeffery to show up next to them in one of his tubes having tricked Madeline into capturing a diver figure instead. The Nektons then state that unless Hammerhead surrenders they'll destroy the Viking treasure by dumping it into the lava. After destroying a whole crate of treasure Hammerhead and his crew leaves in a rush to stop them destroying more while the Nektons use the opportunity to get back on the Aronnax.
With everyone back on the right ship, the Nektons confront Daniels over the treasure which they discovered turned out to be fake (as Ant demonstrates by bending a coin with his teeth), planted by Daniels to simply make his show more exciting, meaning none of what they destroyed. Daniels confession is captured on fishcam as evidence and the Nektons plan to turn him over to the authorities for fraud. On the Orca, Hammerhead is relieved to have saved the treasure only for a tied up Finn to tell him that its fake.
