Synopsis[]

"The Nektons try to stop a fallen satellite's fuel from polluting a marine sanctuary. But someone else is interested in the satellite - Alpheus Benthos, who is intent on finding Lemuria before them!"

Plot[]

On the bridge of the Aronnax, the Nektons and Nereus stare in awe at the now fully assembled Ephemychron as it emits holographic symbols around them. Even though they don't know how to use it, Nereus is confident that with it in there possession they can find Lemuria. Before they can examine it further, they receive a emergency call from Professor Fiction who informs that a deep sea mapping satellite belonging to the World Oceans Authority (WOA) is falling to earth and is set to crash in the ocean a few miles from their position within a marine reserve. Knowing that the satellite's thruster fuel is toxic and will heavily pollute the area, the Nektons put the Ephemychron aside and move to intercept.

The Nektons reach the crash site and head out to recover the wreckage. Ant takes the Shadow Knight, Fontaine the Swamp Knight, Will the Mag Knight, and Kaiko the Rover, while Nereus remains on the Aronnax to relay information to them. Records show that the satellite had been mapping the ocean floor for years using advanced scanning technology and that all the data is stored on the satellite's hard drive. The Nektons find the satellite's hard drive section, which broke off from rest during the crash. Ant and Fontaine to the hard drive to surface to meet with the WOA so they can retrieve the hard drive, while Will and Kaiko continue searching for the rest of the satellite. Upon reaching the surface, Ant and Fontaine are met by an unknown person in a speedboat wearing a helmet covering his face, presumed to be WOA, he takes the hard drive from them and leaves without saying word. Immediately after they are informed by Nereus the WOA is actually 20 minutes away and realize they just handed the hard drive over to an imposter!

Ant and Fontaine pursue the imposter and Fontaine is able to disable the speedboat with the Swamp Knight. The imposter then reveals his face, appearing as young man with dark blue hair. The man then actives his state of the art diving suit and takes off underwater. Ant and Fontaine pursue him only to witness the man enter a large squid looking purple submarine, which takes off and leaves them behind. Inside the sub, the man converses with his ships onboard A.I. over the events when the A.I. informs him of Ant and Fontaine trying to breach the hull. The man stops the sub and opens the airlock for Ant but locks out Fontaine. Ant exits the Shadow Knight and begins looking around. Ant reaches the ship's bridge where he encounters the man who announces himself as Alpheus Benthos.

Alpheus explains to Ant that he's been wanting to meet him and as an apparent show of good faith allows Fontaine to enter the airlock. Alpheus then states that Ant is destined to be his nemesis and then just gives the hard drive to Ant (though its later revealed he erased all the data), and also introduces Ant to A.R.I.A (Augmented Response Intelligence Application) the ship's A.I. that performs most tasks. Alpheus then reveals that he hacked into the satellite and brought it down, partially to meet Ant but mostly to download the data from the hard drive giving him the most comprehensive map of the ocean floor ever which he intends to use to help him find Lemuria and a device that will allow him to control "the Terror". Proteus then appears revealing that Alpheus is in league with him. Proteus claims the Ephemychron is the key to finding Lemuria and that they must retrieve from the Nektons but Alpheus disagrees believing the satellite map is enough. A.R.I.A then informs them that Will and Kaiko have found the satellite. A drone from Alpheus's sub records them from afar. The satellite is shown to have fused with part of the ocean floor as it cooled so Will opts to take the chunk with them. A.R.I.A then detects that the satellites experimental power source has been exposed to water turning it volatile and will cause an explosion in just under 10 minutes!

Ant (whose communicator had been scrambled by Alpheus up until this point when Alpheus allowed it to resume) warns Kaiko and Will of the danger and rushes back to Fontaine. Fontaine is able to force the airlock doors open and Ant reenters the Shadow Knight. They both leave and race back to the others but Alpheus pursues them in his suit. Using a weapon that has seemingly been built into his in own body, Alpheus fires rays of disabling energy from his arms and knocks out Ant's power and causes Fontaine to crash into a rock formation. Alpheus claims he and Ant are linked and that he won't let him sacrifice himself. Alpheus drags Ant back to his sub despite Ant's pleas to let him save his parents. Fontaine recovers and damages Alpheus's propulsion sending him out of control and allowing her to retrieve Ant. Alpheus recovers and tries to continue pursuing them but A.R.I.A, whose programed to protect Alpheus, forcibly brings him onboard to get him to a safe distances from the explosion. Fontaine and Ant return to the others. Realizing there's no time to move the satellite to a new location before it explodes, Ant proposes they bring it to the Aronnax and fire it out one of the Solar Ski tubes into the sky where it should explode harmlessly. Even with rerouting all the power to one tube, they still wouldn't have enough force to send it high enough so Kaiko pilots the Aronnax down before launching it out of the water at full speed giving the satellite an extra boost. After a hard landing and a tense few moments the satellite explodes high in sky far away from the Aronnax.

Alpheus and Proteus surface from afar, surprised that the Nektons survived the ordeal with Alpheus viewing Ant as true nemesis. On the top deck of the Aronnax, the Nektons watch the debris fall but Ant is more worried about Alpheus and the threat he now poses with a map of the entire underwater world. Nereus reveals that he's encountered Alpheus before and says he's deluded and dangerous. When asked about "the Terror", Nereus describes it as a ancient force capable of world wide cataclysm. Nereus reminds them of that they still have the Ephemychron even though still don't know how to use it, but while looking up at the sky, Ant realizes something and goes to get the Ephemychron. Upon returning Ant reveals that the symbols emitted from the Ephemychron don't refer to points on a map but aligns with the stars in the sky. After aligning with stars, the Ephemychron beams a map of the earth onto the floor covered with symbols representing locations significant to the Lemurian Empire.
